Notoriously Morbid Eyeshadows in Neno, Kilgharrah, Doc Brown Reviews + Swatches

REVIEWS + SWATCHES

NENO

Description from Notoriouslymorbid.com:
Classy with a hint of mischief!
A dark metallic brown with lots of wow factor!

*lip, eye, face, and nail safe*
**VEGAN**
Ingredients from Notoriouslymorbid.com:
mica, titanium dioxide, iron oxide, tin oxide.
$1.25 for one sample baggie, $2.75 for one mini jar, $5.50 for one full size jar.

Neno is a metallic gold-leaning taupe with an impressive amount of silver sparks.

This shadow is heavily pigmented and holds its shimmer fantastically. It applies smooth and even, and the metallic finish won't wipe away if you swipe rather than pat the shadow on.

It won't smudge, but a bit of the sparks will wipe off if you try to wipe them off. It's barely noticeable aside from extra baseless sparkle on your fingers.

Similar shadows in my personal collection: What's That Smelt? by Shiro is the closest, less metallic, less olive toned, primarily silver.

KILGHARRAH

Description from Notoriouslymorbid.com:
The wise one....The Great Dragon.
A deep rich brown with gold and green sparkles and a green duochrome.

*NOT LIP SAFE*
*Eye, Face and Nail safe*
**VEGAN**
Ingredients from Notoriouslymorbid.com:
magnesium myristrate, mica, titanium dioxide, tin oxide, iron oxide, ferric ferrocyanide, chromium oxide green.
$1.25 for one sample baggie, $2.75 for one mini jar, $5.50 for one full size jar.

Kilgharrah is a deep brown with green duochrome and green and gold sparks.

Mm, this is such a gorgeous color. It's like a forest in eyeshadow form. The brown is a deep wood brown, with the green being a sort of evergreen. The finish is satin bordering on metallic, making this a standout yet understated shadow.

Like all of the NM shadows I've yet tried, it is very smooth and pigmented. The shift lasts a very long time, though it will rub off a little if you touch it or rub your eyes. Overall it'll give you a very long weartime.

Similar shadows in my personal collection: Diggy Diggy Hole by Shiro, lighter brown, less metallic.

DOC BROWN

Description from Notoriouslymorbid.com:
This is it Marty!
A glorious dark brown with copper and gold sparkles, blends out brown with a rose tint.

*lip,eyes,face,nail safe* **NOT VEGAN**
Ingredients from Notoriouslymorbid.com:
mica, titanium dioxide, iron oxide, carmine, silica.
$1.25 for one sample baggie, $2.75 for one mini jar, $5.50 for one full size jar.

Doc Brown is a deep red-brown with coppery shimmer.

This color reminds me of redwood trees. Carrie, the owner of NM, picked these shadows randomly for me (along with two others, review coming soon) I think she picked awesome colors. These three together are such wonderful fall colors, beautifully reflecting how the forest looks and feels.

This shadow is again very smooth and pigmented, won't smudge or transfer easily and will give you a long weartime. It smudges and transfers even less than the other two shadows in this post.

Similar shadows in my personal collection: Helena by Siren Cosmetics, black base, dark red shift; Mars by Tilt/Shift Cosmetics, more taupe base; Bonfire Spirits by Fyrinnae, more reddish, more orange, less brown base.

CONCLUSION

I'm pleasantly surprised. I'd never ordered from NM before, but I was drawn in by shade names and the sheer oddity of it all. Luckily these shadows are lovely, and I'm anticipating reviewing the rest of the things I got from NM... in addition to ordering from them again.

  1. Neno is one of my all-time favorite eyeshadows. In fact, I think it's my favorite. It goes with everything. So versatile! I definitely recommend other NM stuff. They are all super high quality.
