I'm on a search for a new cruelty free foundation. None of my foundations are cruelty free, and had been bought before I made the change. I don't want to be wasteful so I still use my old products, just don't review or encourage people to buy them. If I use them in a look, which I sometimes do, I'll mention that they aren't cruelty free.
Anyway, I came across Glory Boon while sifting through a list of indie companies. They offer a range of products, from eyeshadows to blushes and foundations and concealers, and even more. I ordered myself a sample of their liquid foundation, and here we are reviewing it.

There are seven color options, but they do seem a little sparse. There is a very pale color, which is good for the vampiric MUAs, three medium-fair colors, and three deep colors. The darkest shade, Bronze, is definitely dark but probably won't work for extremely dark people. It would certainly be too pale for Lupita Nyong'o and those darker than her. There also seems to be a jump between the darkest medium-fair color, Cream, and the next color darker, Almond. Just keep in mind that I'm making this judgement of the photos from Glory Boon's Etsy page.
From the brief descriptions from Glory Boon themselves I picked the shade Luna, which is luckily a spot-on match for me. Maybe a little yellow, but it matches to my exact tone within a few minutes of application.
The texture of this foundation is that of a thick liquid, like Bourjois Healthy Mix (not cruelty free) foundation. It blends easily and smoothly into my skin, without leaving streaks or only sticking to patches. There is no detectable scent aside from a slight damp chalky smell, but it goes away after you apply it.
Coverage is light with one application, like a BB cream, but lightly buildable to about medium coverage. I can get the coverage I want with a few dots blended into my face, and then a few more dots on places like my nose, under my eyes, and on my chin and problem areas.
Initially it takes on a very bare-skin finish, nearly matte with a little bit of luminosity. My face does get a bit shiny in humid and hot situations, but it's easy to take care of with blotting, adding powder, or some other form of oil control.
This foundation lasts pretty well throughout the day. It does transfer if you touch it, and it will smudge if you rub it. I set it with powder but it is still a little slick and slides around a little if provoked. I can pat it back into place with fingers, a buffing brush, a sponge, etc.
If you look very closely there is a bit of cakeyness, but it is very subtle and can only be seen if you are trying to see it. This foundation also settles into fine lines, so I would recommend it only for people with no lines or wrinkles. I have a scar on my forehead that the foundation settled into, which wasn't that big of a deal but I could assume that it would be if you have mature skin. It sticks a little to edges of scabs, but again is not that big of a deal. In summary, this is a foundation for those with really, really good skin.
SWATCHES
Practically bare-faced, no makeup except for Palladio's Herbal Foundation Primer.
How much foundation I use in order to get one light layer. The coverage from this amount is comparable to a really good BB cream.
After I've blended in the above amount.
After I decided that I needed a bit more and blended in a few more dots, especially around my nose, under my eyes, on my chin, and on my forehead.
All made up. I set the foundation with powder, added concealer, blush, contour, highlighter, etc. The whole gamut.
Freshly applied to my wrist, shows how yellow this particular shade is.
Closeup of the foundation blended in on my wrist.
CONCLUSION
I really like this foundation. Admittedly it could be better, but for my first ever indie foundation I am pleasantly pleased.
I consider this a pretty decent dupe for my previous favorite, Bourjois Healthy Mix (not cruelty free). I would love it if this foundation smelled a bit better, more like Bourjois products, but I could add essential oils if I so choose.
After checking out Glory Boon's full selection of products I definitely will be buying more from them, in addition to a full size of Luna. I've got my eye on their Napa Valley blush in particular.
I was surfing net and fortunately came across this site and found very interesting stuff here. Its really fun to read. I enjoyed a lot. Thanks for sharing this wonderful information. Goddess Cosmetics
