Nude NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils Reviews + Swatches

Cashmere, Sparkle Nude, French Fries

3/8/2016: NOT vegan

Everybody loves NYX's Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk, but I wanted to see if other Jumbo Eye Pencils are similarly good as an eyeshadow base. I picked out three nude colored pencils, for different skintones. Unfortunately I couldn't find any matte nude pencils on NYX's site, so I had to pick three shimmery ones. Here are my reviews and swatches of these pencils.

Cashmere
Cashmere
Cashmere is the lightest of the three, a shimmery gold champagne.

This pencil does not go on as smoothly as Milk does, and it is not as sticky, but it still has nice color and pigmentation.

It does stay in some degree all day, though a bit faded and a little creased.

B5 from e.l.f.'s Studio Baked Eyeshadow Palette in NYC

To test if each pencil has the same ability to make a color 'pop' as Milk does, I picked a color from an e.l.f. palette that I have. I picked this color because it doesn't show up very well at all without a primer/base, but is nonetheless an intense color.

Cashmere, alone and with B5 patted on top
With or without the pencil, B5 sticks similarly. There is a slight bit more pigmentation on top of the pencil, along with a lovely gold undertone, but it's nothing major -- nothing like you'd expect from Milk.

Sparkle Nude
Sparkle Nude
Sparkle Nude is a shimmery light copper. It is nearly identical to Urban Decay's Chopper, but with no glitter.

This pencil is the same as Cashmere with regard to application. Pigmentation is great, and it stays at least in part throughout all the day. It creases a small bit, but if you pat powder on top you can greatly reduce your odds of it creasing.

Sparkle Nude, alone and with B5 patted on top
B5 looks more pigmented on top of Sparkle Nude than on Cashmere, but again a bit of the pencil seeps through in the form of a lovely shimmery undertone. It is definitely not as sticky as Milk, but it is better than Cashmere.

French Fries
French Fries
French Fries is a shimmery dark copper -- not unlike burnt, you guessed it, french fries.

This pencil has the same formula as Cashmere, and acts like it. Application is still great, and all the things I said about the other two still apply here, but this pencil is lacking in stickiness.

French Fries, alone and with B5 patted on top

B5 looks darkest on top of French Fries, which would be expected. Like Cashmere this pencil doesn't hold pigment so well, not nearly as good as Milk.

CONCLUSION

My recommendation really just depends on what you want to use these pencils for. As a cream eyeshadow, they're all great. As an eyeshadow base, I'd say that Sparkle Nude is the only one that could be used as an eyeshadow base -- but if you're going to spend the money anyway, you might as well buy yourself Milk or an actual primer.
